Who Makes Kroger Peanut Butter?

After recently purchasing some of Kroger’s creamy peanut butter, I wondered if Kroger makes their own peanut butter, or if they purchase it from a third party manufacturer. There isn’t much information on their website, so I decided to do some more research.

I got into contact with Kroger’s customer service to see if they could provide any insight as to who makes their peanut butter.

Who Makes Kroger Peanut Butter? According to their customer service representative, Kroger receives all of their peanut butter products from Tara Foods. Tara Foods makes exclusive Kroger products, which includes their line of peanut butter.

Does Kroger Own Tara Foods?

Initially, I had thought that Kroger used a 3rd party manufacturing company. However, while reading some of Tara Foods company information, it seems that Kroger does own Tara Foods.

Essentially, Tara Foods manufactures various products exclusively for the Kroger brand and its subsidiaries. In other words, they make products solely for the use of Kroger supermarkets.

To support this, I looked at Indeed to see what information I could find about certain job listings for Tara foods. It seems that in the job description of Tara Foods’s listing only talked about the history of the Kroger brand.

This would essentially mean that Kroger is posting the job under their profile, but the job is located at the Tara Foods headquarters. Below is a screenshot of the company profile description:

What Other Products Does Tara Foods Make For Kroger?

As mentioned above, peanut butter is not the only product that Tara Foods makes for Kroger. Because they are an exclusive manufacturer for them, they specialize in many more different types of consumable products.

Below is a list of other products that Tara Food manufactures for Kroger. Keep in mind, these may not be all of the products they make, but just the ones that were listed on their main website.

  • Coffee
  • Spaghetti Sauce
  • Condiments
  • Cashews
  • Extracts
  • Concentrate Flavorings

There is no official list of products, so the products listed above are amongst the many consumables that Tara Foods makes. According to one source, Tara Foods makes over 240 different products for Kroger, so what is listed above is just a drop in the bucket.

More Information on Tara Foods, Kroger

Tara Foods is mainly headquartered in Albany, Georgia. The plant is allegedly over 100,000 square feet and employs over 100 people in their plant. Unfortunately, there is no other information on where their distribution centers are located.

Because Kroger has locations all throughout the country, they need to have distribution centers. But Tara Foods doesn’t disclose where they distribute to. My guess would be that they distribute to major cities in a majority of the states.
