If you are a recipient of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), commonly known as food stamps, and you often use an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card to purchase groceries, you may be curious if you can use your EBT card at Walmart’s self checkout kiosks.
To clarify this, I contacted Walmart’s corporate customer service to find out if this is possible. According to the representative, any customer can indeed use their EBT card at a Walmart self checkout.
How To Use EBT At Walmart Self Checkout
To do so, simply select the payment option labeled “EBT” or “Food Stamps” at the payment screen, then input the information on your EBT card to complete the transaction. However, it is important to note that only qualified items such as groceries can be purchased with EBT at the self checkout, and other items such as alcohol or tobacco may not be eligible.
